Nova Scotia Wedding Photography

Nova Scotia Wedding Photography

This past weekend was the anniversary of my best friend Dayna’s wedding and so I just had to post some shots from the day.. Even when I’m Maid of honour you still can’t keep the camera out of my hands.. We got ready and stayed at Oceanstone resort and loved the ombre purple dresses. Devon and Dayna’s first look was emotional and then we headed to Peggy’s Cove for the wedding party photos (obviously none of them here as I was in them!). The ceremony and reception were at St Margarets Sailing club and all of the gorgeous decor was painted by my art school friend, and it was a group effort to set it all up the night before with plenty of personal touches. The speeches were emotional and all the east coasters danced so hard we made the dancefloor shake. I loved the Live Art by Najma¬†painting which was done throughout the evening. Happy Anniversary guys, love and miss you!
I would LOVE to photograph more weddings out in Nova Scotia and in most cases I am happy to waive travel fees so please contact me about your east coast wedding!

Documentary family photography London Ontario

Documentary Family Photography London Ontario

Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful extended family. The farm that the family had always lived on had just sold and they had the opportunity to get the whole family together from places as far as LA, Halifax and Europe for one last big family summer bbq. We mixed candid and posed shots and felt like the story was told best in black and white so I hope you enjoy and think about having all of the natural moments captured the next time you get together with your family.

St Thomas Wedding Photography

St Thomas Wedding Photography

I met Kendra and Dale through Kayla and Bryan so I knew that they were going to be good people ūüôā This wedding was a dream to photograph, with an amazing team of vendors and people who wear their heart on their sleeve (which makes it easier to photographing the emotions of the day!). The day started with photographing the dapper groom getting ready with his buddies then heading over the parents of the brides house for the girls getting ready. The photo of Kendras dog licking her just after her makeup was finished was one of my favourites from the year. There were some very emotional first looks with Kendra’s dad and her bro-maids which was super cute before heading out to the VW vans. These vans are really popular in Australia, and I loved being able to include them in some of the shots. Their travel theme was brought throughout the decor in the church and at the reception. I photographed this wedding without a second shooter but I was told by the pastor (while the mic was still on inside the church) that I wasn’t aloud to move around at all during the ceremony. I did this for the most part, except for when there was a transition like going over to water the tree together, but despite this I think there are still some great shots showing their personalities from throughout the ceremony.
After photographing the family photographs inside the church straight after the ceremony, we headed to CASO and did most of the wedding party and couple photos there. Kendra had a bunch of special requests including¬†re-creating some of her engagement photos that my studio- mate Kristine from Cheers to you Photography did for them, she just left some extra time in the schedule for this. I was really glad that we had the great indoor space for taking photos when it started raining, we had actually been told that we were the last wedding to use the green/exposed brick wall but from what I’ve heard it is still there which I’m very glad about!
The reception was filled with a funny bro-maid MC, many emotional speeches and wonderful first dances. My mouth literally waters when I think about the delicious family style meal and dessert buffet. To finish it all off we headed outside for a couple of night shots in the rain.

I’m off to photograph my first destination wedding!

Mexico destination wedding photographer

I leave in the early hours of sunday the 7th for a week in Mexico to photograph this awesome couple’s wedding. I’m happy that my first destination wedding is going to be with friends- Matt was one of the best men at our wedding and Sarah was one of the MC’s. These pics were taken right around 7 years ago when we went to Cuba (looking through the photos from that trip, we look like babies!) and I am so excited to be photographing her wearing a different white dress!

Ukrainian Club London Ontario Wedding Photography

Ukrainian Club London Ontario Wedding Photography

This week will be this fun, down to earth couples 1st anniversary and I wanted to get their relaxed day up on the blog! I feel like when I look at these photos I can hear Susanna’s booming laugh and can see Brad’s jokester attitude. After being together many years and having 2 adorable kids this couple tied the knot in Dorchester with their friends and family. I loved the purple and white theme throughout and capturing all of the candid moments and authentic laughter shared. The park at Belmont was a great spot with plenty of variety for their photos. Their reception was at Ukrainian Country Club in London and capturing their guests having fun and finishing with one of the best bouquet and garter toss’ ever with the garter not going very far at all then the scramble with legs in the air for it and the boquet toss being caught by the grooms brother who had been helping out with the kids all day, literally catching it still with a kid on his hip! I’m so excited to be photographing one of the bridesmaids intimate ceremony in June.

Windermere Manor Wedding Photographer

Windermere Manor Wedding Photographer

Karlee and Andrew were married a year ago this week at the gorgeous Windermere Manor wedding photographer. They brought their rustic country style to the venue and incorporated it in the decor, the cowboy boots and the groom even wore a camo vest! I loved capturing the moments of Karlees dad seeing her for the first time and the emotional moments of the bridesmaids opening their cards. The ceremony was very meaningful as the minister had married their parents and I loved the high-five hand off from the father of the bride to the groom. Loved capturing Andrews sense of humour with ‘loosing the vows’. Following the ceremony we captured the wedding party and couple photos in romantic, traditional, candid and dramatic styles. Clara and I captured a variety of shots from the balcony and from the main floor at their laid back reception. The shot of the father of the bride dancing with his mom was one of my fave candid moments of the year and of course loved heading outside at the end of the night to capture a night shot.

Engagement Session Victoria Park London Ontario

Engagement Session Victoria Park London Ontario

This winter engagement photography session was very fun to photograph and just shows how much variety we can get in 1 hour!

Starting with some cute skating pics on the ice, then incorporating their love of hockey, we had to get to the ice rink at Victoria Park quite early in the morning to be sure there wouldn’t be too many other people around. After incorporating some fun props like hot chocolate we captured a few romantic pics and while we were busy taking the romantic pics, when we turned around to where we had left the hot chocolate on the ground we realized that one of the furry residents of Victoria Park had helped themselves to what was left in the cup. Everyone knows I love squirrels- I even have a woodland animals tattoo that has a squirrel in it so I was so happy when Amanda and Andrew were happy to walk slowly over to where the squirrel was to take photographs with him, but then we realized that he wasn’t as skittish as most would be and Amanda even had him come all the way over to her hand!

Museum London Wedding Photography

Museum London Wedding Photography

Museum London is a location I would love to photograph more weddings but I was lucky enough to capture Karrie and Brian’s wedding there in June 2015. I photographed the girls at the beautiful Delta armouries while Clara had fun photographing the guys. We photographed their first look and other formal shots of the wedding party at the Delta when the original plan was rained out but the group were super fun and loved Brian’s idea for photographs on the city bus. After the candlelit ceremony we captured the family shots inside Museum London and the couple had a pet care provider bring their dogs to the Museum to have a few shots taken outside. Unfortunately it was right when it was absolutely pouring and thunderstorming so we weren’t able to take any photos in any spots except underneath the awning but I really think it means so much when you include your fur babies in the wedding day! After some amazing speeches and a tear-filled first dance (I <3 grooms who cry!) we set up the photobooth for some fun and captured many candids of their friends and family enjoying themselves and the amazing hors d’oeuvres served.

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Back in the fall of 2015 Clara and I had the pleasure of capturing Katie and Brad’s wedding at the Old Court House. It was a chilly day and even snowed at some points but the beautiful fall colours well and truly made up for it! I loved all of the personal touches with the decor for the memory table, table number and the fall/red theme which was topped off my the red bow on the back of Katie’s dress. The ‘unity’ commitment was also very unique with them pouring red and white wine together (and they even attempted to drink some!). I loved the elegant dresses and suits that the wedding party wore, and the red shawl that Katie wore for some of the outdoor photographs. Their kissing game was also one that I have never seen again, getting guests to come and ride a kids size bicycle, and even some of the older guests go in on the fun! To finish the night we headed outside in the rain for a couple of the dramatically lit nighttime shots which are always a favourite.

St. George Parish wedding photography

St. George Parish Wedding Photography

I’ve listened to many webinars and attended classes at the photography conference I went to back in February with the theme of finding your ideal client. Cibeli and Michael¬†check of all of my ‘ideal client’ boxes, which certainly is rare as most of the time I know if a couple of these points are checked, I know I will really enjoy photographing the wedding.

  • They value their photography. At one point when we were emailing back and forth Cibeli and Michael mentioned that they had to cut their budget so were going to get a family member to do the photography, but instead we worked out that if they got a smaller package and paid in installments it would work for them.
  • They love to travel- we totally connected straight away because Cibeli is from Brazil and Michael is from here in London Ontario but they are living in Sydney Australia- which I loved their boomerang favors for their guests.
  • They are passionate- about each other, their family, and their careers. Michael is a chiropractor and I loved that they did a photo of him adjusting Cibeli, and she is a¬†Reiki Master & Crystal Awakening Therapist and I loved that she brought a rose quartz stone to harness the engergy of the day.
  • They danced and rocked out to their favourite music
  • They brought¬†their personalities into the wedding- through the time of year, celebrating with their family and friends on thanksgiving. ¬†Being out in nature with the fall colours and bringing that theme into their decor. Love of good food with the wonderful meal from Greenhills Golf Club and cake by Bright Eyes Bakery, love of animals with the horse and carriage and her amazing dress with detachable train, tiara and shawl which certainly made her a fall princess!
