Winter Engagement Photography with Dogs London Ontario

Winter Engagement Photography with Dogs London Ontario

Niki and Kyle get married today and I’m so excited to see them and their dogs again! They had lots of fun ideas and outfit changes (very brave in the super cold- actually snowing during some of the session). Kyle popped the question on Pelee Island so it was great to see the wine glasses from there being incorporated (they were my inspiration for going there for our 1st anniversary). This winter session was photographed at Fanshawe Conservation. I always love Winter Engagement Photography with Dogs London Ontario- including pets in the engagement photos and it’s a good idea to book your winter shoot early in the season in case we need to reschedule it until we get a day with beautiful snow like this!

Four Points Sheraton Wedding Photography London Ontario

Four Points Sheraton Wedding Photography London Ontario

Excited to share Cally and Steve’s wedding from right around a year ago. I had am amazing time photographing their engagement session and had photographed Steve’s cousin’s wedding the year before so knew it was going to be a great one! It was photographed mostly at Four Points by Sheraton where the girls got ready, had the ceremony outside under the gazebo and where their gatsby themed reception was held. They both play baseball so photographing some of their formal shots at Dreamers Baseball and then some at Civic Gardens, all while on a yellow school bus in 40 degree heat, everyone were really good about the heat though and as Cally was a big Pokemon Go fan we also did Pokemon go screenshot wedding photos and our take on the  Jurassic Park shot. After some emotional speeches and night shots we captured a bunch of candids including some epic dance floor shots!

Business name change announcement- Woodgate Photography

Woodgate Photography

For a few years I had been wishing that I had named my business something other than my name so that I could have other photographers work for me. Back in August last year I decided to not let the name hold me back and to have Clara (my trusted second shooter of now almost 4 years) book weddings and other portraits sessions as part of my business. We found it a little bit confusing for clients to be booking with ‘Clara of Erin Woodgate Photography’ so made the decision to drop the ‘Erin’ from my business name. Around that time, I had shot a couple of weddings with Alana and thought she would work perfectly with our team. The Woodgate Photography team was complete, now just to change the name!

The Woodgate Photography team- Alana, Erin and Clara.

It sounds like a simple task but to this point has proven to have taken a lot more time than I had anticipated. Just changing the logo alone was a huge task, thank you to Abigail from PaperCloud for putting up with me!  It was hard to let go of my logo that I have had for almost 7 years that I made myself, but now has a level brand recognition in the area- I always love when I am at a bridal show and have people come to our booth saying, ‘I know your logo, you must have shot one of my friends weddings!’ The new logo certainly looks more modern and more of a team business logo that just a solo gal with her camera. We’ve come a long way in those 7 years- a couple of things I’m not going to miss about the old logo- I am actually holding a polaroid camera, as I only had one DSLR and it had to be taking the photo! I also only had socks on so you can really see my big toes poking out lol! I’m happy to be keeping the name Woodgate running as soon my last name will be all changed and it is a great tie to my maiden name and my Dad’s side of the family- he gave me my first camera and his father was actually a photographer in WWII.

Woodgate PhotographyOur ‘why’

So where to from here- you will be seeing more and more of Clara and Alana’s faces around here and in instagram stories. We will have more availability so if I am already booked for a certain date Clara or Alana will be able to be there for you at the time that suits you best. Other than that you likely wont see much change, Clara will continue to help with some of the editing, I’ll continue to run all communication with clients, social media and other not as fun business stuff (eg taxes- eww).

I’m excited to have this new chapter of my business on the way- still to change the wording everywhere, watermarks on photos and the domain of the website but all of that will need to wait until there aren’t quite so many weddings in the edit list, just this past weekend alone the Woodgate Photography team added 4 to the list, a great sign of things to come!

Winter Engagement Photography with Pets London Ontario

Winter Engagement Photography with Pets London Ontario

So happy to bring you this engagement photography session photographed by Clara last year with Tia & Geoff who are tying the knot today! Incorporating pets into engagement sessions is one of our favourite things to do and just check out how beautiful the snow was that day- last winter we didn’t get many days like this! I think it is a great idea to have your engagement session photographed during a different season to your wedding, so that you have variety! It was photographed at the Old Court House, Ivey Park and Civic Gardens.

  • We met on an online dating site and started chatting on facebook. Turned out that we went to the same highschool, same university and even worked at the same restaurant at different times. We had a few mutual friends and decided to go on a date together. We went mini-golfing for our first date was super awkward but also so much fun! We were able to joke around about how meeting people from the internet can be scary, at the end of the date we both said “Well I guess your not a murderer we should do this again”
  • Tia: My first thought seeing Geoff was, damn this guys early! I’m usually the early one! Next was this guys looks like a really nice, he looks like a lot of fun. Can’t wait to get to know him a little more.
Geoff: Is this the girl? Because it kind of looks like her but I don’t know for sure.
  • Geoff texted Tia when she was at work saying “Hey meet me and Scout (the dog) at Rockway Gardens (local park) on your way home from work we can go for a walk together. Tia was still in her uniform from work and stopped to grab an iced cap and iced coffee for Geoff. When she pulled up to the park she couldn’t see Geoff and Scout and called him, he said he was at the top of the hill. Tia called up to him and said she didn’t know how to get up he needed to come down for their walk (she didn’t know he was planning on proposing). When she made her way up to Geoff at the top of the hill he was asking how she felt about the park, if she thought it was nice (we were sitting on top of a mini waterfall). He then popped the question!! Tia hid behind Scout the dog shocked and so excited! Then out for fancy dinner to celebrate.
  • Why did you choose us
I enjoyed the package. I liked that it had two photographers and included photography for the full day. I wanted to have photos of the girls getting ready, guys getting ready, people arriving at the wedding, ceremony, family photos, awesome photos captured at the reception. I was composed and traditional photos as well as fun and cheesie photos as well as embarrassing reception photos of course! The package appeared to cover all the bases. I enjoyed the two parent albums to give as gifts after the wedding and I of course enjoyed the album for us. It seemed like a well rounded package and I think photos are the second most important part of the wedding… besides the marriage of course!

Dutch reform wedding photography ontario

Dutch reform wedding photography ontario

It has been a year since Miranda and Nick’s wedding captured, my first dutch reform wedding. The day started at each of their parents houses with plenty of family and friends around helping with getting ready. We captured a first look then headed to capture part of the ceremony. When the bride and groom and all of their guests went into their religious part of the ceremony we shot details of their decor at Norwich Community Centre. After the ceremony we captured their receiving line at the church. All of the family and wedding party photographs captured at Tillsonburg golf & country club. We had lot of fun with the wedding party out on the golf carts and below you can see their album exactly how we designed it using all of their favourite photographs from the day.

Pioneer Village Wedding Photography

Pioneer Village Wedding Photography

I loved capturing Brittany and Reed’s big day almost a year ago! The day started capturing the girls getting hair and makeup done at Nova Vita, then getting ready at one of the bridesmaids houses. Clara captured the dapper dudes getting ready then we met up at the gorgeous green space (Victoria Park) in Fanshawe Pioneer Village. I love the rustic feel of the barn and All of their personal touches were wonderful and I always love capturing emotional dads at their first look and crying grooms! The ceremony was seriously beautiful and perfect lighting for capturing the wedding party and couple photographs on the grounds at Pioneer Village. The reception in the barn was filled with plenty of sweet speeches, dances and fun sparkler shots and dramatic night time dips!

Arva engagement photography

Arva Engagement Photography

I’m excited to be photographing Megan and Dave’s wedding today and it will certainly look very different outside today than it did this past winter when we photographed their session. We had lots of fun with piggy back rides and on the swings and we certainly were able to get a lot of variety out of this sweet little park in Arva which was chosen by the couple.
