Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario

Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario

As I am off today to photograph a pregnancy announcement session (the dad knows but we will be capturing it for them to announce to the rest of the world) I thought it was fitting to post this Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario blog from photographs taken a bit over a year ago. One of my previous wedding clients let me in on a secret, and I was there at Prince Alberts Diner to capture her telling her husband, in a very cute way, that she was pregnant. Now, as mentioned in the Proposal photography post, my task was made a bit harder in that the subject knew who I was so I tried to go incognito, this time as I knew I had to be inside, I took my fiance with me to make it look like we just also happened to be there on a date. I was recognized but told later that he didn’t suspect anything and I really don’t think that his reactions could be any more expressive! I felt making the images black and white made the expressions the main thing that draws your eye and I’m so excited to be photogaphing their little ones 6 month milestone next month (yes, I know I’m really far behind on blogs but I’ll get there 🙂

If you enjoyed this post, check out the other Pregnancy Announcement I photographed last year.

Christmas/ Winter themed engagement session

Merry Christmas! I hope that if you do happen to be reading this on Christmas day that it is with chocolate in your mouth and your smelling the lovely smells of dinner being cooked. I met Stephanie and Skyler to speak about their wedding next year and Stephanie and I found so many things in common like our love of crafts and DIY (check out her awesome blog here), dogs, vintage and all things cute, fun and lovely. I think those last few words really describe Stephanie and Skyler’s engagement shoot with props by Found Decor Company, as well and some of their personal items. The snow looked like a winter wonderland and it made for a very fun (albeit cold) shoot.

Fire station and Drive-in movie theatre engagement photography London Ontario

Krystle and John were an absolute pleasure to work with for their engagement session which we did at the Fire Station that he works at and at the Mustang drive in theatre where they first met. I’ve posted way too many photos for this one but it was really hard coming down to just these so I’ll let them speak for themselves, except that I can’t wait to see them again on their big day next year!

Mothers day special and Spring Mini info

Spring is finally on the way (not that it really looks like it out my window) so here are the details of my Spring Mini Sessions

These 30 minute long sessions will take place in Gibbons Park in London and will be styled with vintage props including a couch (below) and teepee set from Found Decor Company

Prices start at $60 for 5 full high resolution images on disc with print release, $90 for 10 images and $120 for 20 images. You can decide what package you would like to go for after seeing the photos.

Can be used for Family, Kids, Newborn, maternity, Pets, Engagement, ‘In Love’, High school seniors, or for any other portrait session you can think of.

To book a session please get in contact ASAP. Sunday May 26th will be the main shoot date but if you are not able to make it on that date some varying times will be available May 23rd- 28th. All images will be back in time for you to make prints for Fathers Day.

I guess I’m kind of getting a bit ahead of myself by speaking of Fathers Day, especially as we haven’t even had Mothers Day yet! For my special for Mothers Day I am giving a 20% discount off of any gift certificate bought in between now (April 12 2013) and Mothers Day (May 12 2013). Thats a saving of $60 on a 2 hour family shoot!
To celebrate to Mothers Day special I thought I would share this shoot I did when I was at home in Australia last November, with Beth and her daughter Ruby. We picked pretty much the windiest day possible to be shooting on the Terrigal peninsula but we managed to still get some cute shots.

Models Brianna and Robynn for Atlantic Art Couture

This summer I was lucky enough to be asked again by east coast Jewellery designer Jessie of Atlantic Art Couture to photograph her new line of jewellery which I got a strong woodland feel from. I adore all things with antlers and also a good walk in the woods so I knew that we could put our heads together and come up with a great idea for a shoot! I got together with the beautiful Brianna and Robynn and went for a walk through Point Pleasant Park in Halifax and had fun shooting with a cool vintage typewriter I picked up, vintage camera I was given, with some cars that just happened to be there and of course the gorgeous jewellery!

How could we just walk past this car! The owner was even so accommodating as to move it to a different space in the car park so that we had a better backdrop!
I had to have this terrarium ring with the Effiel tower in it and on my trip last month took a couple of shots with it from the top of the tower and with the real tower itself!

Diana Baby

A little while back I did a post about a new Lomography camera I was excited about, the Fisheye baby which is reviving 110 film. I have some in the post on thier way to me right now and I’m now looking forward to getting my hands on a Diana Baby to try it out. I’m thinking I’m going to eventually have to buy one as well because, how cute will it look sitting next to my Diana F+ and Diana mini. You can even get 2 different lenses for it!

Tall Ships Shoot

So when the Tall Ships were in town I couldn’t let the opportunity pass without collaborating with some local models Matt and Eden, for a shoot. I definitely think that if I’m shooting something like this again I will seriously consider going early in the morning so as to not have thousands of tourists to work around but still, it was a very fun shoot with the beautiful Eden falling through a barrel at one point!

Friendly neighbourhood Engagement session

I was extremely excited about this shoot from the moments that the words ‘Take a vintage red couch outside’ were uttered. The shoot was done in Angella’s parents backyard and their neighbours yard. The couch is going to be used at the wedding at the head table and I’m really looking forward to capturing some more photo-documentary style shots at the wedding!

I’m now making a facebook cover photo for all of my sessions. If you would like to take advantage of my $75 mini session offer email me on erin@erinwoodgatephotography.com

Sydney Royal Easter Show

So I’ve been pretty MIA from the blog in recent times, main excuses being- working in the studio where I’m unable to share my work online and also writing a lot of articles over on Lomography. I thought I’d share some street photography type photos I took a couple of years ago at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. I wish I was going this year as it’s always a good time but we’ll have to see..

James Dean inspired shoot

As i mentioned in my Marylin post, I had decided I would do a series on young, dead celebrities. I can’t say I came up with the idea to do that because, really, it’s been done before but these people were such an inspiration to now so many generations of people that of course it has all been done. One of my favourite quotes which I have hanging on my mirror at home is ‘Art is either evolution or revolution’. When searching for models to do these shoots with I headed over to trusty Model Mayhem, a lot of people talk about having bad experiences with models, or from the other side with photographers, but I have only had one time when a model didn’t turn up for a shoot and I put this down to choosing the models wisely and keeping up a good amount of contact.

My James Dean is a London model who has been photographed by some amazing photographers both in Canada and in Italy where he spent some time modelling so I felt very privileged when he said he would help me out with my little project. He definitely was the perfect one for the job and after doing the plain backdrop James Dean inspired shots we snapped a few extras influenced by high fashion looks.
