Best of 2016: Newborn Photography

Newborn Photographer London Ontario

This year I had the privilege of photographing more newborns than I have ever photographed before in a year. I love thinking up new props and incorporating personal items to make each session unique.

For newborn sessions it is typically in studio where I can control how warm the space is and many other factors that work together to make sure we can capture your newborn in the best way possible. Most of the time the sessions are done between 5-14 days old and I am very flexible (on weekdays especially) as to be able to book the session around when the baby will be the most sleepy. I work with any outfits or props you would like incorporated or if you have a certain idea, colour scheme or theme in mind I am more than happy to work with it. I have a large variety of props, outfits and accessories that we can include so there isn’t a need for you to go out and buy items that the baby will grow out of so quickly. We can include the whole family, other siblings, pets or even just Mom or Dad’s arms or hands. You can view many more newborn photography tips and tricks on my newborn page on my website.

To kick off the new year I thought I would put together a series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2016. You can catch up on the previous posts below-

Part 4: Easter Mini Sessions

This was my third shoot with (now not so) little Miriam and her gorgeous Family. Hey gorgeous Mom, Erika who was also involved in the Tea Party shoot has another little one brewing and if they are anywhere near as gorgeous as Miriam is not only in looks but personality I’m thinking doing shoots of them will almost be cuteness overload!

Speaking of cuteness overload! Baby Oliver and big sister Sophie came to the studio shoot and aren’t they just the cutest! That shot of her nuzzling with Jezebel the bunny breaks me!

Part 2: Easter Mini Sessions

Hopefully you saw Part 1 yesterday which explains a little about the Easter Mini Sessions I did this year and will hopefully be doing again next year! I have loved seeing the feedback not only from the clients who had the sessions but also from the London community! As I mentioned yesterday we had back luck with the weather with the outdoor shoots being when it was -8 and the studio shoots from when it was 10 degrees outside so when I thought we would be able to get better shots of one of the littlest participants when he didn’t seem to happy outside I was more than happy to do a re-shoot at the studio.

Second shooter/ Bunny wrangler: Robin

The following photos were taken at the studio of the gorgeous brother and sister Arthur and Ava. How cute are their hats!

Part 1: Easter Mini Sessions

So a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to team up with Robin who has a small pet farm just north of the city (you can view her photography here) and with Found Decor Company for some of the props to do some Easter Mini Sessions! If you are a fan of my Facebook page you would have seen the sneak peaks I rolled out as I was editing them but I wanted to share more of each session so I decided to feature two of the mini sessions on the blog (1 from the outdoor shoots when it was -8 out and one from the studio shoots when it was 10 degrees outside!?!) each day leading up to Easter. Please share and pin until your chocolate filled hearts are content!

First up was adventurous Liam who patiently waited with his Mom and Robin for me as best as an active 2 year old can, while being entertained with Bunnies and Chicks!

Next we have the little superstar Trinity who LOVED Jezebel the bunny and has such a huge personality I think we were able to capture a bit of in the portraits. How can anyone not love that spring dress!

2012 roundup: Family Photography

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be doing a series of roundup blogs showing some of my favourite photos from sessions I’ve done throughout the year. This year I’ve had the opportunity to do family photography sessions in 2 great locations, where I am from on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia and where I now call home in London, Ontario, Canada. If there is one thing I love about being a photographer it is knowing that these images will be forever in the family and cherished for years to come, maybe in frames up on the walls or even just hidden away for that 18th (Australia) or 19th (Canada) birthday slideshow. Photographing families really is my passion and I’m looking forward to meeting many new families to photograph in the New Year!
I love the chaos in this shot from a family lifestyles session in London. It captures the moment that many times you don’t see in family sessions, the meltdown.

If there is one photo I’ve taken this year that just encapsulates summer, it’s this one. London, On

Playful shoot at Terrigal, NSW

Two best friends at Gibbons Park, London.

Best friends fall shoot

I photographed Damien when he was just a little guy and it was so great to be able to do another shoot and see how he’s grown and also to meet his best friend Jayda! This pair are so cute together, following each other around and just having innocent fun at the playground. This was photographed at Gibbons park in London, Ontario.

London Ontario Family Photography

This was my first shoot I did after moving back to London in September. Avelyn is growing into such a gorgeous lady, not that she hasn’t always been- I did her Newborn and 6 month shoot so now it is just like reuniting with old friends whenever we get together. This session had more of a lifestyles photography feel to it as it was mainly around their house, with a quick trip to a nearby park as well. I love shooting like this as it feels more like a photo-documentary rather than a portrait session staged with a background. I’m looking forward to having some fun in he snow this winter!

Central Coast Family Photography

New Work Wednesday is back, after a bit of a hiatus for while I’ve been working in a portrait studio (unable to show my work due to copyright) I’ve now got a few shoots up my sleeve to be shared! This time next week I’ll be getting through customs at LAX on the return back to Halifax, Canada but I’ll be back on the Central Coast for most of November this year so if you’re thinking of doing a shoot let me know and we can start planning!
Over the long weekend I had the pleasure of doing a family photography shoot at Long Jetty on the NSW Central Coast. Even though little Evelyn wasn’t having an incredibly smiley day, I don’t think you’d know it from these sneak peaks! Check out those baby blues!

2011 lil model competition!

Over the last year I’ve aquired some amazing props to be used in my shoots and as of late haven’t had the chance to use them! So I am running a lil model competition, as most of my props are for little people- everything from cocoons for newborns to a little wooden rocking chair for an up to 6 year old so that will be the main guideline for the competition!

So here’s how it all works-
– You can enter either your child or a child known to you with permission from parents age 0-6yrs
– Parents MUST be willing to sign a model release meaning that the photos can be used by me both online and in printed portfolios and if relevant in some advertising. (I won’t sell the images to any third party sites like stock photos etc)
– Everyone who enters gets a $50 voucher towards any photography session with me
– Must be located on the Central Coast or willing to travel
So do you have or know of a little one that you would love to have gorgeous photos of, some of them wearing some cool props? What you have to do to enter is-
– ‘Like’ then post a photo of the lil model on my facebook page
– Get all your friends to ‘Like’ my page and ‘like’ your photo and the person with the highest ‘likes’ on the 31st of January wins!

Central Coast NSW Family Photography

I first met Amanda and her growing family for her maternity session back at the beginning of the year after that I got to meet baby Ariella for her newborn session and I was asked back again to do a summer shoot for the young family. I love that I’ve been able to see the little ones grow and loved capturing moments like the one below with Aiden picking Dad’s nose! Also check out the teddy hat I was taking photos of, so cute! Let me know if you would like the designers details to get one!
