Windermere Manor Wedding Photographer

Windermere Manor Wedding Photographer

Karlee and Andrew were married a year ago this week at the gorgeous Windermere Manor wedding photographer. They brought their rustic country style to the venue and incorporated it in the decor, the cowboy boots and the groom even wore a camo vest! I loved capturing the moments of Karlees dad seeing her for the first time and the emotional moments of the bridesmaids opening their cards. The ceremony was very meaningful as the minister had married their parents and I loved the high-five hand off from the father of the bride to the groom. Loved capturing Andrews sense of humour with ‘loosing the vows’. Following the ceremony we captured the wedding party and couple photos in romantic, traditional, candid and dramatic styles. Clara and I captured a variety of shots from the balcony and from the main floor at their laid back reception. The shot of the father of the bride dancing with his mom was one of my fave candid moments of the year and of course loved heading outside at the end of the night to capture a night shot.

Museum London Wedding Photography

Museum London Wedding Photography

Museum London is a location I would love to photograph more weddings but I was lucky enough to capture Karrie and Brian’s wedding there in June 2015. I photographed the girls at the beautiful Delta armouries while Clara had fun photographing the guys. We photographed their first look and other formal shots of the wedding party at the Delta when the original plan was rained out but the group were super fun and loved Brian’s idea for photographs on the city bus. After the candlelit ceremony we captured the family shots inside Museum London and the couple had a pet care provider bring their dogs to the Museum to have a few shots taken outside. Unfortunately it was right when it was absolutely pouring and thunderstorming so we weren’t able to take any photos in any spots except underneath the awning but I really think it means so much when you include your fur babies in the wedding day! After some amazing speeches and a tear-filled first dance (I <3 grooms who cry!) we set up the photobooth for some fun and captured many candids of their friends and family enjoying themselves and the amazing hors d’oeuvres served.

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Back in the fall of 2015 Clara and I had the pleasure of capturing Katie and Brad’s wedding at the Old Court House. It was a chilly day and even snowed at some points but the beautiful fall colours well and truly made up for it! I loved all of the personal touches with the decor for the memory table, table number and the fall/red theme which was topped off my the red bow on the back of Katie’s dress. The ‘unity’ commitment was also very unique with them pouring red and white wine together (and they even attempted to drink some!). I loved the elegant dresses and suits that the wedding party wore, and the red shawl that Katie wore for some of the outdoor photographs. Their kissing game was also one that I have never seen again, getting guests to come and ride a kids size bicycle, and even some of the older guests go in on the fun! To finish the night we headed outside in the rain for a couple of the dramatically lit nighttime shots which are always a favourite.

St. George Parish wedding photography

St. George Parish Wedding Photography

I’ve listened to many webinars and attended classes at the photography conference I went to back in February with the theme of finding your ideal client. Cibeli and Michael check of all of my ‘ideal client’ boxes, which certainly is rare as most of the time I know if a couple of these points are checked, I know I will really enjoy photographing the wedding.

  • They value their photography. At one point when we were emailing back and forth Cibeli and Michael mentioned that they had to cut their budget so were going to get a family member to do the photography, but instead we worked out that if they got a smaller package and paid in installments it would work for them.
  • They love to travel- we totally connected straight away because Cibeli is from Brazil and Michael is from here in London Ontario but they are living in Sydney Australia- which I loved their boomerang favors for their guests.
  • They are passionate- about each other, their family, and their careers. Michael is a chiropractor and I loved that they did a photo of him adjusting Cibeli, and she is a Reiki Master & Crystal Awakening Therapist and I loved that she brought a rose quartz stone to harness the engergy of the day.
  • They danced and rocked out to their favourite music
  • They brought their personalities into the wedding- through the time of year, celebrating with their family and friends on thanksgiving.  Being out in nature with the fall colours and bringing that theme into their decor. Love of good food with the wonderful meal from Greenhills Golf Club and cake by Bright Eyes Bakery, love of animals with the horse and carriage and her amazing dress with detachable train, tiara and shawl which certainly made her a fall princess!

Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre Wedding Photography

Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre Wedding Photography

Sarah and Alex were married a year ago at Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre in London Ontario and I loved capturing their big day. The girls were all very relaxed getting ready, as were the guys who got to hang out and play pool, I always think the guys getting ready shots are made much more fun when they are doing an activity. When I asked the happy couple what they were most looking forward to it was their first look, it was an emotional moment and really allowed them to relax more through the rest of the evening with their guests. We captured a bunch of portraits of them outside with their wedding party, family and some special ones just of the two of them. We then headed in from the chilly March wind and they did what was a new thing at that point ‘faceswap’ which was my first bride and groom faceswap! After a few more indoor photos the ceremony was held inside and even though they had done the first look, it was still a very emotional moment for all involved. When future bride and grooms are tossing up whether to do a first look or not I always tell them how all of the emotion is still there for that walk up the aisle, its just that you can then hang out with your guests straight after the ceremony (or after the family photos). Rob from Music Central was there brilliant MC and I loved seeing their guests enjoying the same day slideshow I put together of their first look and earlier moments from the day. After the lovely speeches and fun dancing I headed outside with the couple for some dramatically lit nighttime shots- check out that clear sky!

Elmhurst Wedding Photography Ingersoll Ontario

Elmhurst Wedding Photography Ingersoll Ontario

I’ve always loved photographing weddings at the Elmhurst and Cara and Denis’ big day was certainly no exception! This blog is in the format of showing you exactly what they ordered in their album, I love seeing what images that couples choose to have in their albums as it is quite often different images to what I would typically share. Photographing the girls getting ready at the Idlewyld was a dream while my second shooter captured the guys at home. After following the girls in Cara’s friends gorgeous car to the Compass community church we captured their very meaningful ceremony. After a family tragedy the couple rose up and were able to celebrate their love with their closest friends and family at the Elm Hurst. There was a big emphasis on fun with great games and short but meaningful speeches. The Willy Wonka theme was great all across the invitations, favors, centerpieces and of course the amazing candy bar! We then headed outside for some fun with sparklers and night photos.

CASO wedding photography St Thomas

CASO wedding photography St Thomas

It is about time I post this wedding from almost 2 years ago and if you’re anything like me and loving catching up on all of the Oscar nominated movies, you will love this Hollywood themed wedding at the CASO train station in St Thomas. I knew Laura and John had a big love for movies from their engagement session photographed at the movie theater at Westmount Mall. We captured all of the old Hollywood details and their very emotional first look. Laura and John had been together for many years so it was wonderful to capture their day with their closest friends and family. I loved all of the personalized details that the couple included- Laura was in the wedding industry at the time and so as she had seen many weddings I think they really made it their own with the imperial march as the processional song, Zelda themed pics (in the freezing cold) and ‘One kiss to rule them all’ at the start of the dinner rather than doing games etc. After some emotional speeches they did the best cake cutting I have ever seen and then a quick night shot outside.

Ceremony and Reception venue: CASO

DJ: Music Central

Winter Wedding Photography London Ontario

Winter Wedding Photography London Ontario

I met with a lovely couple today who have their end of fall/coming into winter wedding booked with me and we were talking about the schedule of the day and how it is impacted by the setting sun in the winter months. It got me thinking that I should do a post with a few of the things I mentioned to them.

For winter weddings, I always recommend a first look, this means we can capture your genuine emotions right up close with one another, and you are able to do the photographs in the sun, without having to make your ceremony too early. However, I think it is completely up to the couple as to if this is something they want to do and this lovely wedding of Laura and Ryan back in Feburary 2015 still hasn’t been blogged and I thought it was a great one for demonstrating a great winter wedding schedule for couples who don’t want to see each other before the ceremony for a first look.

Laura and Ryan met online and I could just tell by the way they look and laugh with each other that they are a perfect match! We captured their final getting ready moments and 1pm ceremony at the Village Green Community Church, after their ceremony and receiving line we captured many groupings of friends and family which was of course helped by the detailed shot list. We captured these, and some of the wedding party underneath an arch that the couple had set up, it is a very good idea to have an indoor option in the colder months for these types of photographs. Clara and I then headed with the wedding party to Civic Gardens for some winter wonderland photographs. It was quite a cold day so didn’t spend too much time outside, but we were still able to get a large variety by divide and conquering, which we were able to do as there were two photographers. We all then headed to the London Ukraninian Centre for their reception surrounded by many of their family and friends.  Their reception kicked off around 530 and we captured all the important moments- all the way until we heard the cha cha slide 🙂

Best of 2016: Candid wedding moments

Candid Wedding Photography London Ontario

Below you will see some of my favourite candid images from the year, everything from emotional first looks to the father of the bride dancing with his elderly mom, the male friend catching the bouquet (with a child on his hip even) and heaps of reception party rowdiness! Capturing candid, timeless photographs is one of the main things I aim to do with my wedding photography and as I’m sure you’ll see from these photographs, I always aim to be where the action and emotional moment are happening. There are even a couple of shots that I feel just scream 2016- a couple doing faceswap, and a screengrab of everyone trying to catch em all with Pokemon Go. These shots might not be as timeless and you might have to explain to your grandkids what they are, but I feel it it important to see the time period in your wedding photography.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, 2016 was a big year for weddings- I photographed 31 in Ontario and was Bride, Maid of Honour and Bridesmaid outside of Ontario! I have decided to split up the wedding photography blogs this year as otherwise they would be far too long and I find it hard to cut down! Last week was couples (and a couple of just the bride or groom), this #weddingwednesday will be candid moments and next wednesday will be Wedding Parties. There are so many more shots from each of these weddings that I could have chosen that I really could make a much larger series of these blogs, including best dress shot, best ring shot etc, but the list would go on forever but I promise that in the coming months all of the weddings will be featured right here on my blog so be sure to check back!

To kick off the new year I thought I would put together a series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2016. You can catch up on the previous posts below-
