Muskoka Wedding Photography

Deniss and Laura’s wedding really had everything I love about what I do- we made an instant connection at a bridal show and she booked on the spot! We had loads of fun at the unique engagement session which was personalized to their interests including their awesome boat. Their value are right along the same as mine, valuing friends and family, love of the outdoors and music which was provided by their friends. Their gorgeous venue The Ridge at Manitou is just outside Parry Sound. It went with their elegant/rustic theme and provided amazing photographic opportunities. After some very emotional and lovely speehes we loved capturing their first dance and heading outside for some night shots. I may have even let out a Clay Davis style Sheeeit (but in a good way) when I checked out the black and white pic towards the end of the post.

As soon as I heard about Kim and Rod’s wedding, I knew I really wanted to be a part of their day. Even though the rain threatened on the day, I was so excited to be able to photograph their beach ceremony and we were even treated to a re-enactment during their photo session!

Sunningdale Golf Course Wedding Photography London Ontario

Laura and Craig were married at Sunningdale Golf and country club in the summer and it was a very laid back and intimate day surrounded by all their loved ones. I especially loved the beach themed centrepieces that they made themselves, the ‘twirl’ to get the guests up and moving instead of the processional and also when the kids had a cupcake fight!
Venue: Sunningdale Golf and country club
Dresses: David’s Bridal
Makeup: Mac
Table decorations: DIY by bride and bridesmaids
Flowers: DIY by mother of the bride, bride and bridesmaids

Mismatched and Kitschy

“Jogger girl”, thats how one group of people from back home know me, because when we went to a Justin Timberlake concert years ago I was wearing a nice silver top, black shorts and white joggers (runners). My reasoning behind it was because I knew the others would be dressed nicely and we were getting a limo to the concert so I didn’t want to be there in a tshirt and jeans but I also knew how much your feet get jumped on at concerts when it’s general admission. So I’m pretty mismatched, and if you know me at all you know how much I value kitsch.
When I found Halifax local Molly’s etsy shop I instantly knew I HAD to do something with these little wonders. I teamed up with model Jocelyn and headed downtown to some of my favourite shops that were lovely enough to let us take a few photos. If you’re interested in any of the jewellery contact me and I can put you in touch with Molly.

Sweets by Ashley

There is a reason why my blog is called Cameras and Cupcakes. I, in many ways, love them equally. I first came into contact with Sweets by Ashley a few months ago when I saw her pin up style photos taken by the great London photographer Dana Brushette. I started following her on facebook and she held a competition for someone to come up with her next chocolate flavor. If anyone has ever been to a cupcake or ice cream shop with me, you know what I’ll always order, the one with the chocolate a peanut butter, or failing that, the cookie dough. So I thought why not marry the two and my flavor ‘The Woodgate’ won. They literally are some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever tasted. So after all of that I asked if Ashley would like her cupcakes featured in the Tea Party and as they say the rest is history!

The Tea Party

You’ve been hearing about it for weeks, I’ve been planning/shooting/editing for months and it is finally here! Awhile ago I posted about doing an Etsy Trade. I contacted a few local designers and creatives in the area and from the products that I had gathered to photograph I came up with the Idea for a tea party. I will be individually showcasing each of the designers and all that we worked on together over the next 2 weeks on the blog but here it is in its entirety. It was loads of fun and I am really hoping to make it a continuing thing, either with doing photography tea parties or with doing shoots combining elements from a few different designers to come up with a new all combining concept. If you would like to book a tea party shoot or if you are designer who would like to do a trade please contact me.

Etsy Photography Trade

So I’m not the best Etsy-ier. I have to admit it, I got really excited at around Christmas and decided I would put up a bunch of prints to sell and make some earrings, I loved taking the photos of the earrings but after only one sale I kind of gave up, I didn’t keep posting new things and my shop slowly dwindled away. I was at a party last week and I was talking to someone about photography and Etsy, and suggested that I contact some Etsy sellers to see if they were interested in doing a trade.

I honestly couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it sooner! Image is everything on Etsy! And were always told that to have professional images of your Etsy products will boost your sales, that products will sell better when they are shown being used and photographed by a professional.
So Etsy sellers, or any other designers for that matter, what I would like to do is offer photography services of a range of your products in exchange to add a couple of your products to my prop collection. Its a win win situation for both parties. I will photograph at least 5 images of each item.
This can be for anything, think outside the box, everything from newborn hats to Jewelry for adults, clothing for children, cool home goods I can use as props or for stylized shoots, etc. If you are interested, all you need to do is send me the link to your shop (or if you are not open yet, tell me about it and what you are selling) in an email to erinwoodgatesphotography@hotmail.com

Sweet Cakes

I’m sitting here writing this in my summer cupcake pajamas pants and the tshirt that I got from Magnolias cupcakes in New York drinking tea from my oversized pink cupcake mug which I have winter pajamas, a dressing gown and slippers to match. From the title of this blog you know that I hold both photography and cupcakes in high regard. What happens when I combine the two? A little bit a magic… Check out the product shots I did for Sweet Cakes cupcakes store here in London Ontario. Some of the best cupcakes I’ve had! Check out more of their cupcakes on my facebook.

Downtown Halifax Model shoot

During my 2 week stay in Halifax my trigger finger was getting itchy so I was very happy when model/mum/pilot Ashleigh contacted me to do a shoot for her portfolio. It was one of the only sunny days we got while we were out east and I was very happy to spend it with this naturally talented model and she even put up with the freezing wind on top of citadel hill 🙂
