I had known Chantelle and Kyle for years, she was my go-to crochet outfit maker for a bunch of my newborn/ cake smash props. I photographed their family a bunch of times and was so happy when they asked me to photograph their big day. On a chilly fall day last year Clara and I captured them getting ready then their amazing first look at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. We had fun incorporating their love of superheros into their wedding party photos and their kids- the super adorable ring bearer and flower girl. The outdoor ceremony on the farm was beautiful and we were even able to get some awesome fog shots of the two newlyweds and then later in the night, dramatic rainy night photos. The reception was a lot of fun with many big moments captured and possibly the best last photo of the night ever (sorry Chantelle just had to share lol).

Ilijana and Gordon were married on thanksgiving weekend 2016 and I’m happy to finally blog their album of their big day. I captured the girls getting ready at home with their big fur baby Rufus. The guys got ready at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre London Ontario Wedding Photography and they were married in a fun indoor ceremony which included Abba! They had fun doing photos on site with their friends and family and after capturing all of the moments of the reception we headed outside for some night photos.

Thanksgiving weekend was Courtney and Matt’s 1st anniversary and while there are still yellow leaves on the trees I wanted to share their wedding blog with you. The images below are the couple’s album and it is always interesting for me to see which images that they love most. You might recognize this gorgeous couple (and wedding party) from my banners that I have at the bridal shows. I know that the puppy photo is always a hit and it probably one of my fave wedding photos I have ever taken- I honestly squealed and hugged Courtney when she told me that they still had enough puppies for each of the bridesmaids to hold.

Bellamere Winery Fall wedding photography

Bellamere Winery Fall wedding photography

Jen and Jay were married just over a year ago at Bellamere Winery in an open air ceremony with a rustic feel. I loved the colours that they chose and Bellamere has so much variety for different backgrounds that we were able to capture a large variety of photographs of the wedding party and couple in a short amount of time. The DJ kept everyone up dancing and I loved capturing the moment of the bride literally kicking off her shoes. I love being able to incorporate their personalities into the photographs and knowing they loved all things horror/halloween from the engagement session they had to do a thriller lit up pose. I believe the moon that night was a supermoon which was very cool!

Gown: David’s Bridal
Hair and make up: Beauty by Mallory
Getting ready location: Delta armouries
DJ: Double Dutch DJ
Hair piece, flowers and decor: DIY by couple

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Old Court House London Ontario Wedding Photography

Back in the fall of 2015 Clara and I had the pleasure of capturing Katie and Brad’s wedding at the Old Court House. It was a chilly day and even snowed at some points but the beautiful fall colours well and truly made up for it! I loved all of the personal touches with the decor for the memory table, table number and the fall/red theme which was topped off my the red bow on the back of Katie’s dress. The ‘unity’ commitment was also very unique with them pouring red and white wine together (and they even attempted to drink some!). I loved the elegant dresses and suits that the wedding party wore, and the red shawl that Katie wore for some of the outdoor photographs. Their kissing game was also one that I have never seen again, getting guests to come and ride a kids size bicycle, and even some of the older guests go in on the fun! To finish the night we headed outside in the rain for a couple of the dramatically lit nighttime shots which are always a favourite.

St. George Parish wedding photography

St. George Parish Wedding Photography

I’ve listened to many webinars and attended classes at the photography conference I went to back in February with the theme of finding your ideal client. Cibeli and Michael check of all of my ‘ideal client’ boxes, which certainly is rare as most of the time I know if a couple of these points are checked, I know I will really enjoy photographing the wedding.

  • They value their photography. At one point when we were emailing back and forth Cibeli and Michael mentioned that they had to cut their budget so were going to get a family member to do the photography, but instead we worked out that if they got a smaller package and paid in installments it would work for them.
  • They love to travel- we totally connected straight away because Cibeli is from Brazil and Michael is from here in London Ontario but they are living in Sydney Australia- which I loved their boomerang favors for their guests.
  • They are passionate- about each other, their family, and their careers. Michael is a chiropractor and I loved that they did a photo of him adjusting Cibeli, and she is a Reiki Master & Crystal Awakening Therapist and I loved that she brought a rose quartz stone to harness the engergy of the day.
  • They danced and rocked out to their favourite music
  • They brought their personalities into the wedding- through the time of year, celebrating with their family and friends on thanksgiving.  Being out in nature with the fall colours and bringing that theme into their decor. Love of good food with the wonderful meal from Greenhills Golf Club and cake by Bright Eyes Bakery, love of animals with the horse and carriage and her amazing dress with detachable train, tiara and shawl which certainly made her a fall princess!

Amazing vendors-

Girls getting ready location: Idlewyld Inn
Ceremony: St George Parish
Reception: Greenhills Golf Club
Cake: Bright Eyes Bakery
Bouquets and Boutonnieres: Lyric Flowers
DJ: Cooper DJ service

Best of 2016: Wedding Photography

London Ontario Wedding Photography

This was a big year for weddings- I photographed 31 in Ontario and was Bride, Maid of Honour and Bridesmaid outside of Ontario! I have decided to split up the wedding photography blogs this year as otherwise they would be far too long and I find it hard to cut down! The posts will be this one which is couples (and a couple of just the bride or groom), this wednesday will be Wedding Parties and next wednesday will be candid moments. There are so many more shots from each of these weddings that I could have chosen that I really could make a much larger series of these blogs, including best dress shot, best ring shot etc, but the list would go on forever but I promise that in the coming months all of the weddings will be featured right here on my blog so be sure to check back!

Below you will see some of my favourite images from the year, you’ll see some from all of the seasons. Some on freezing winter days, I did 4 weddings this year that with the humidity were 40 degrees or over and everything in between. I everything from elopements with just a couple of guests to 300 guest affairs. I photographed weddings in locations such as Muskoka, Belmont, St Thomas, Ingersoll, Woodstock, Melbourne, Thamesford, Mt Brydges, St Marys, as well as many of the local London venues. If you would like more information about my London Ontario Wedding Photography follow this link.

City Hall Wedding Photography London Ontario

City Hall Wedding Photography London Ontario

Mallory and Bob decided to have a low key celebration of their love which started at City Hall in London, Ontario. I loved capturing the candid and emotional moments as the important guests arrived and detail shots of the important aspects of their day such as Bob’s funky ties, Mallory’s beautiful flowers, dress and the rings. We went into the council chambers (which have not been renovated which is lovely) and they had their short but sweet ceremony. As it was right around 1 year ago, there were beautiful fall colours so we then headed to the Elm Hurst Inn in Ingersoll for some family and couple photographs. The grounds there have so many different photography opportunities. Afterwards the couple enjoyed a very special thanksgiving dinner with their guests.

Kitchener Wedding Photography

Kitchener Wedding Photography

This past monday was Kristen and Warren’s first anniversary. Clara and I were happy to travel to Kitchener to photograph their big day. The day started with getting ready shots of the girls and guys including lots of special detail shots. Don’t you just love the handmade individual paper flowers rather than having a bouquet! We then headed to a lovely park which is where the couple did their first look. It was a cold day with a very cold breeze but all of the wedding party were awesome with following instruction and we tried to keep it as quick and warm for them as possible. They were a fun bunch and captured some funny shots as well as many romantic ones of the bride and groom. We then headed to the groom’s fathers airport hangar (you may remember the same venue from a previous wedding that I have photographed there, of the groom’s sister’s wedding the year before) and photographed the ceremony, family photos and then had a fun time photographing the yard games they had for their guests to play. The space was decorated with an under the sea type theme as Warren had proposed with a dolphin while on vacation. Their kissing game was the ‘copy cat’ where a couple will kiss in a certain way and then the bride and groom need to re-create it. I think this game is one of the best to photograph as you get to celebrate your guests love also- and can make for funny moments like seen here with the whipped cream. The dances were fun to photograph on the reflective floor and as always, I loved capturing the fun of the bouquet and garter toss.
