Best of 2016: Pet Photography

Pet Photographer London Ontario

I really love doing pet sessions, as I am not in a position right now to have my own pets I just love being around other people with their pets! Below you will see some of my favourite Pet Photographer London Ontario images from the year. There are a few from pet specific shoots both on location and in studio, including the ‘newborn puppy’ inspired shoot and a maternity shoot. Some were taken as part of family or engagement sessions, and one special one I have here from a wedding. A bunch were taken at the Pawlooza and Dog Days shows. I also had the opportunity this year to be the main sponsor of Pooch Plunge which I photographed and there are a few pics of that here but a bunch more in the facebook album. I also had the opportunity to help a couple of local rescues including Barks and Meows rescue and the Canadian Dachshund rescue. If you would like more information about my Pet Photography Sessions follow this link.

I also offer Camera Workshops which allow you to learn how to use your camera on the best settings possible to capture your fast moving, or dimly lit pets. Contact me to chat more about the workshops.

To kick off the new year I thought I would put together a series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2016. You can catch up on the previous posts below-

Best of 2015: Pet Photography Sessions London Ontario

Wrap up of Erin Woodgate Photography’s best Pet Photography Sessions London Ontario!

2015 brought a change in Pet Photography Sessions London Ontario compared to what I had done in previous years. More of my clients opted for my mini sessions with their pets than they had in the past, with less doing the full on location session. To kick off the new year I thought I would put together a series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2015. You can catch up on the previous posts below-

I really love doing pet sessions, as I am not in a position right now to have my own pets I just love being around other people with their pets! Below you will see some of my favourite images from the year, some were taken as part of family or engagement sessions, a bunch were taken at the Bark in the Park show and the Pioneer Village dog days show. One of the images, the cat with the guitar was actually just an inquisitive cat while I was doing lighting tests for a newborn shoot in someone’s home, but I liked the image so had to keep it! I also had the opportunity this year to photograph a dog agility competition and Pooch Plunge as well as help out a couple of local rescues including Hoppy Hearts Rabbit Rescue on their Jacked Rabbit’s calendar and the Canadian Dachshund rescue. Best of 2014 – Engagement Sessions

Engagement sessions really are one of my favourite sessions to photograph. London and South West Ontario has so many amazing backdrops to choose from that change so much throughout the year that we are definitely spoilt in this part of the world! I love getting to know the couple right from the point of organizing the location (I always love it when it is a place that means something to the couple) and then doing the session, being able to capture this exciting point in their lives and seeing the love between them all of this adds together to why engagement sessions are some of my favourites to photograph.

For this post I’ve chosen one shot from each session I photographed last year (and added a couple of my favourite ring shots to the bottom). Check back later this week for the Best of Weddings 2014.

Guest Post: Leash & Paws

Written By Ingrid from Leash & Paws

Happy #WeddingWednesday! We all know how important it is for everyone to be present for your special day and to share all the memories together. Many couples struggle with the idea of having their dog in their wedding. Leash & Paws now offers a service to help ease the worry of having your dog at your ceremony, photos or venue. We provide wedding dog attendant services so that your pup can be incorporated into your big day.

Below are some helpful tips to consider:

1. Ensure that your dog is well socialized and will be able to be around your guests at the wedding. Ensure if there are any guests or people in the bridal party who are fearful or allergic of your dog.

2. Have your dog pampered prior to the wedding day so that they are groomed and ready to go.

3. Decide what role your dog will have in the wedding and any training that would be required in order for them to preform their role and practice it several times at home.

4. Any outfits, flowers, special collars should be worn before the big day (as a dress rehearsal) to ensure that your dog is comfortable in their attire.

5. Assign someone to handle your dog for the day so that they can ensure your dog is fed, has water and has had a walk before and after their role in the wedding. Designating one person will definitely assist and ease the big day. Confirm with your venue that animals are allowed or discuss with them about having your dog there for part of the event. Assigning a handler for the day helps ease any hesitation a venue may have.

Igor the Pug models for Aunt Pattys Gourmutt Bakery.

I really love the buy local concept and was happy when this great local business agreed to have me do some product photography for them. I was blown away when I saw the gorgeous treats that Erin from Aunt Patty’s Gourmutt bakery makes locally in London Ontario. They look so good I want to eat them! Igor the pug who has been in a bunch of movies and tv shows was out amazing model, I have never seen a dog so well trained that they can be surrounded in treats and not be eating them all straight away (he did get to enjoy some at the end).

Cat Photography South Western Ontario

When I introduce myself to people as a wedding and pet photographer a lot of times they will joke about only having a cat and could I take photos of that and here’s proof that I definitely love doing that too! Especially when they are as gorgeous as these two! As you can see we did an in home session with the cats, then went to a park for some fun with their awesome Doberman!

Dog photography London Ontario

Sometimes photographing multiple dogs by yourself can be tricky, that’s one of the reasons that I think a lot of people look at getting professional pet photographers to capture some memories for them to look back on. These two beautiful golden retrievers had very different personalities but after a bit of patience and persuasion I was able to capture some great shots of them at their favourite park!

Backyard pet photography South Western Ontario

One cold fall day I was lucky enough to photograph these three gorgeous Standard Poodles in their backyard. I loved hearing about each of their personalities and how they came into their owner Susan’s life. Sometimes working with 3 dogs can be hard but I defintely think that having them in an envioronment they are used to- their backyard and having a little patience and perserverance can defintely make it all worth it in the end when we get some lovely portraits of them all together.
