Bucket List 2017

I’m feeling more inspired than ever after attending the WPPI photography conference in Las Vegas this month and after watching countless online webinars. I’ve decided to put out into the universe my bucket list of shoots I want to do this year both here in London, Ontario and Internationally.

  1. ¬†Photograph a wedding in the UK/Ireland/Europe. I really want to finish travelling in Europe and would love to photograph a wedding there. The off season here is Nov-April and so I’m hoping for anytime in there and I would be happy to work within budgets for the great couples/right locations. Here are some shots from the last wedding I photographed in that neck of the woods 5 years ago now! Wedding Photography Kent England-

    2. I would like to photograph more adult cake smashes. These sessions are perfect for 19th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th etc birthdays and if a 100yo was willing to do one I would be willing to do it for free! With these sessions you get to have some ‘regular portraits’ whether that be some business headshots, beauty shots, family, couple, pet etc, then we can come up with a theme based around your interests. It’s my 30th Birthday this year (you can see a pic below taken by my associate photographer Clara, on my 28th birthday) so to celebrate every adult cake smash will receive a free 8×10 cake smash collage print.

3. Along with wanting to finish travelling in Europe, I have never travelled to the west coast of Canada so would love to photograph a wedding or elopement out in all of the gorgeous landscapes I’ve only had the pleasure of seeing in photographs. Again, I would be happy to work make a custom package for a great couple ūüôā

4. I would love to photograph a pregnant pin up shoot. I think the pin up sessions are so much fun and would love to capture a lovely pregnant mom with full vintage style pin up hair and makeup. I’d be more than happy to work with you on themes that would work to your tastes and click for more info on the Pin Up Photography London Ontario.

5. Engagement or family session for big fans of Harry Potter in Goderich this fall. I grew up reading Harry Potter and I know that there are some big Harry Potter fans here in South Western Ontario, so I would love to photograph a session in Goderich when the festival is on.¬†I wasn’t able to get tickets but I will be on the lookout for them and I’m sure that some of the surrounding area will get into the spirit and will make for a great backdrop.

6. Engagement session at the Western Fair at sunset/night. Below you can see the last session I photographed there, 4 years ago this year! I would love to have some fun there again using my new equipment and knowledge.

7.¬† Forrats chocolate fondu engagement/ couple/ anniversary session. If you’re a chocoholic like me and haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Forrats in Byron yet, I highly recommend you do and I would love to capture some sweet love while you enjoy a date night (and maybe start across the road for some photographs at Springbank Park as well, for variety.)

8. London to London family/ engagement/ couple/ anniversary session.¬†I have had this idea since moving to ‘Little London’ and would like to find the right people who either have a love of ‘Big London’ or are from England, or some kind of ties to both. The session would take us to a bunch of the London locations such as the double decker bus for Ice Cream and we might end up at a pub, with many other stops in between.

9. Trash the Prom or Bridesmaid Dress group session¬†Do you and your friends still have your prom dresses laying around gathering dust? Maybe that has been awhile but you have bridesmaids dresses that you thought you might wear again but haven’t. I think it would make for such a fun shoot to get together with a bunch of your friends, maybe pamper yourself beforehand with getting hair and makeup, then have fun doing a friends shoot, but getting edgier with with in a fun location and possibly even trashing the dresses in the water, mud, snow or with paint or glitter!

10. Australia¬†I would love to get home in Australian summer 2017/18 or 2018/19 so would love to book a wedding to photograph while I’m there with the exchange rate being right around even my rates are very affordable by Aussie standards.

Best of 2016: Maternity Photography

Maternity Photographer London Ontario

This year I have really enjoyed getting creative with the lovely mom-to-be’s who have visited me both at my studio and on location for Maternity Photographer London Ontario. I also enjoyed photographing a couple of pregnancy announcement shoots with older siblings and love all of the ideas that there are out there for this and would love to shoot more. Many of these sessions have been photographed as part of my 1st year package and it is great to get to know the couple at the maternity shoot then get to meet their bub and see them through to their 1st birthday.

For maternity sessions it is usually the choice between on location and in studio. If it is in studio the colours you are wearing will determine the background. From there I do a variety of shots of different angles and poses, incorporating any props you have brought with you or anything of mine that you would like to use. Most of my maternity sessions however are done on location where we work with the differing locations and wardrobe to get variety in the shots. This way you can do the photos in a location that means something to you like where your partner proposed, a special park or place you like to go together.

To kick off the new year I thought I would put together a series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2016. You can catch up on the previous posts below-

To get back into the swing of things after Christmas I thought I would start my series of blogs showing some of my favourite photos I captured in 2016.

2016 was a busy mini session photography year for me! The one thing I especially love about the mini sessions is regularly getting to see families faces as they update their photos on their walls and on their profile pictures. In the images below you will see examples of the mini session days with the themes- Valentine’s Day, Easter, Spring (both outside with the magnolia trees and inside from when we had freak late May snow), superheros and princesses, Thanksgiving/Fall/Halloween, Christmas (tree farm and in studio) as well as a few pet photography specific days and I also did business headshot mini sessions but those photographs will be shown in a few days when I post the blog for those portraits. For 2017 I plan on doing all of these mentioned in the below flyer for my mini session pass, the best value way of doing mini sessions with me throughout the year and only on sale until Jan 1st.

Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario

Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario

As I am off today to photograph a pregnancy announcement session (the dad knows but we will be capturing it for them to announce to the rest of the world) I thought it was fitting to post this¬†Pregnancy Announcement London Ontario blog from photographs taken a bit over a year ago. One of my previous wedding clients let me in on a secret, and I was there at Prince Alberts Diner to capture her telling her husband, in a very cute way, that she was pregnant. Now, as mentioned in the Proposal photography post, my task was made a bit harder in that the subject knew who I was so I tried to go incognito, this time as I knew I had to be inside, I took my fiance with me to make it look like we just also happened to be there on a date. I was recognized but told later that he didn’t suspect anything and I really don’t think that his reactions could be any more expressive! I felt making the images black and white made the expressions the main thing that draws your eye and I’m so excited to be photogaphing their little ones 6 month milestone next month (yes, I know I’m really far behind on blogs but I’ll get there ūüôā

If you enjoyed this post, check out the other Pregnancy Announcement I photographed last year.

2015 brought more Maternity Photography Sessions London Ontario than I had done in previous years which I think had a big part to do with opening the studio space in September! Pregnancy announcement photography

Back in winter my friend Nicole who runs Body Design Fitness let me in on a secret. We planned and disguised the shoot as a re-do of their engagement session. It was an extremely cold day but I think the excitement of what was to come kept spirits up! After a few of the engagement/family type photos, I gave them each a piece of paper and asked them to write something sweet to each other. They turned their backs to each other and I just love the shot of Nicole with ‘I’m pregnant’ sign as she looks so excited! The series of shots showing the excited turn around, his glance down and then the realization and happiness that followed were all so great for me to capture, certainly this is one of the most important things you’ll ever tell your partner and capturing it in this way to be able to show your child in the future is such an amazing idea and I’m so glad to be able to have been part of it.
